Tagged some calves from my first calf heifers last week. I'm a one man show and don't tag at birth so this is the best way I can find to tag them without help. Easy to put a ring on the bulls while they are standing (I can count to 2), a rfid tag in the right ear and then a numbered tag in the left ear. I try to record calf and cow numbers when I see them together later on but of course it doesn't always work. The last picture is a heifer feeding three calves and I know she didn't have triplets! The crush does have a squeeze but the weigh platform in there stops it working so the odd calf will turn around but generally they walk straight through to be caught.
