Ripley, Ontario Canada | Can't comment on western provinces but Ontario production will never be driven by our crop insurance. Unlike how I think some U.S. crop insurance programs work, Ontario crop insurance only covers production, not price. You can get coverage for about 80-95 % of average yield, paid out at market prices in the fall. There are also some reseeding benefits, but they are usually $75 an acre (give or take a bit depending on the crop) and only apply after the crop is destroyed and reseeded. (They usually come look too!) | |
