WC Ind. | We farm about 10 miles SW of that one and farm under 7 others. We had a strong storm front go through here the night before with lightning and very strong winds (gusts over 50 mph). They are not sure what caused it yet. Could have been a lightning strike, although they are very heavily grounded. Or more likely the braking mechanism for the blades failed in the high winds. My son saw one in Northern Illinois that the blades actually spun off the generator after it caught fire. | |
