Middlesex County, Ontario | The big thing is: those mills are slow. It won't crack anywhere near as fast as your auger will deliver. Unless you slow the auger way down and then you have even less capacity. Then you'll turn it up and overflow the mill.
We have a 3hp? electric unit fed by an electric flex auger. We just made a little wooden hopper on top of the mill with a float switch so the auger can turn on/off as needed. I think its pretty ideal the way we have it set up. They don't really plug if you don't have chunks of cob, and they don't really need adjustment. |
