Thanks for all your post. I appreciate the info you share, our family would have made $30,000 on the corn we had in storage had we listened to you about the basis.
Help me understand "the basis follows the spreads"
As the spread narrows, am I correct in saying basis will decline? And as the spread widens, basis should improve?
Below are the charts you attached to my thread earlier in the week.
I assume the black lines indicate the spread between the months.
the numbers and letters in red at the bottom indicate the basis and month.
The numbers on the left don't match up in cents to the red or green lines.
What's the difference in the green and red basis levels on the chart?
What's the red line and what's the green line.
Thanks again...... That was too expensive of a mistake that we made. Wish we would have set basis and kept futures open.
