Subject: RE: new crop corn

Southeast Colorado
I don't mean to speak for Perry but I have kind of butted in on his thread. The $4.75 was a new crop price. However the cash bid is near $4.60. I don't know how to post a link but go to skylandgrain.com and check our bids. They kind of control the market here for the elevators. Selling straight from the farm to an end user is worth another 25 to 40 cents on top of these prices. Historically we have a very strong basis here and right now we are probably better than most thanks to the last couple of years dismal dryland harvests in a radius of 150 miles from my map dot. Even beyond that distance crops haven't faired very well but this is heavy cattle feeding country. JBS (known as Fiver Rivers Feeders here) owns and feeds very large numbers.
