| Mine was a Moen. Two vanity Moen faucets have died this winter. The insert in a Moen tends to stick and they call for a special tool to break it loose. I talked to a local plumber and he said he had the tool but only got the insert out 9 time of out ten tries. His suggestion was to go buy a delta which I did, but I had easy access to the wall. I've seen an episode on Ask This Old House where they replaced a shower valve and the new valve came with an escutcheon large enough to cover having removed enough tile to expose all the connections in the wall so the wall didn't have to be repaired though some of the tile had to be reinstalled after being cut back.
My old Moens were all single handle, turn for temperature, pull for on, push for off. Billions of the made, if you can get the module out, there are replacements. If you cant get it out, there's no future without chopping.
