Subject: Re: Air compressor condensate drain devices

Brazilton KS
We have two compressors plumbed together in what would be called our "mechanical room" if we were the university. One tank has an automatic drain on it which dumps every time the pressure changes in the header line, in other words it dumps when the compressor starts and again when it stops. This tank still will have a small amount of water in it, but not much. The other tank has a stand pipe in it which has a 1/2" ball valve piped outside which we dump periodically. It will blow water for a few seconds, probably gets done once a week. We also have valves on the bottom of every vertical line in the shop. Usually the one going up from the compressor has a little water and the first one coming back down collects quite a bit more, rest of them are pretty much dry. They probably get dumped more like once a month, maybe less.

The automatic drain should be able to be found at a compressor dealer or a truck dealer.
