How is a 12 hour day not good for a railroader? The longer rest period, with days off is the best thing to happen at the rr. People trying to work 365 days a year, with 6.5 hours off a day (with 1.5 hr call) was not safe in any way. 12 hours is enough, then add in the dead head time and the drive to and from work, that ends up being 15-20 hrs worked a day!
