The "gravy train" comment maybe wasn't the best choice of words, but your post is downright mean.
You ask the OP,"where were you in the 90's when Dad....." I guess we know where you were. Guess where a lot of us were? I'll answer that for you--we were right there alongside of your dad, not watching as a kid.
There is room in the livestock business for anyone dedicated enough to do it every day, and sit at their desk at night. I applaud anyone contemplating entry. And guess what? It will be much, much harder for them than someone who watched and probably worked along side of their Dad growing up, and who maybe still has dad around and can use his equity, his help, his advice, or at a minimum the lessons that dad taught years ago.
Many of us in it for 35+ years want anyone considering such a move to REALLY know what they're getting into. As long as they are going in with a realistic view of what is ahead of them, I welcome them with open arms. New blood is always needed. | |
