Subject: RE: JD ATU-row crop planting??

Central Illinois
I run GS2 w/2600 and ATU on a 4955 MFWD pulling a 16/31 Kinze. The GS2 is very acceptable for planting. I have found that the factory supplied receiver bracket will have the globe about 24" in front of the rear axle, which is not enough. This results in some slight weaving that you can't adjust out. The local dealers mechanic that is schooled on precision equipment said that the globe needs to be mounted farther forward, like the 8000 series.

So for this year I'm going to fashion a mount running forward from the factory bracket to the front of the cab--braced off of the bolt on the underside of the front ledge of the cab.
