Subject: Re: Wheat Board

On a positive note, a year ago I started to check this Market Talk forum regularly. I have learned a lot from every contribution and opinion. I had a reasonable production year but a very successful marketing year thanks to Market Talk advice on charts, trends, statistics. I don't recall the poster, but someone was grinding out statistics that, because of the 100 million corn acres projected planting, after abandonment 92 million corn acres and "if" USA produced trendline yields of 164 bu/acre that would lead to $4.50 corn. That jiggled my brain enough to measure my farms downside price risk in the middle of winter. I proceeded to lock in 70% of my new crop feed wheat and feed barley production. The day I finished harvest, I counted the surplus bushels and sold them. That turns out to be 2x higher than todays spot price.
Again, I am not totally accurate on the numbers or stats, but the message was important. Thank you, I appreciate it.
