There was an outbreak of Blasto around here 10-15 years ago, even killed a couple people before they figured out what it was.

I knew one guy who had a St Bernard that contracted Blasto and survived, but IIRC it was a long expensive process.

I know one guy who was in very good physical shape, around 40 when he got it, still survives but has to drag an oxygen bottle with him everywhere.

Edit-What we had around here was Blastomycosis--don't know if that's what you meant, or if we had something different.
