Intermediate is harder to cut and probably a little stronger. So it has vertical and horizontal cuts on both ends of the diagonal. However, most of the load is vertical and the ends are only effective when the diagonal brace is close to the hinge at the bottom and the latch side at the top. Then the diagonal brace is under compression and in the extreme will buckle. Diagonal the other way close to top hinge is under tension like a cable would be. Either end the anchoring will depend on connection to the uprights.

Fact is either angle and any of the three cuts will probably work if adequately connected (pocket screws to the frames if inside the frames) until the wood rots.
