Formerly NE North Dakota, now NW MN | Yes, but more importantly, corporations are issuing more debt than they would otherwise, and un the absence of investment opportunities, they are just propping their stock price up, thru either share buybacks, dividends, or buying out partners.
Verizon issued a huge amount of debt to buy out vodaphones half of Verizon wireless, apple started paying a dividend and issued bonds. Apple has an enormous amount of cash, but they still issued debt because rates are so low.... Why not? There are other examples, but those come to mind. |
