Subject: Anhydrous application

Got a question for those in the know... This season we upgraded toolbars, where we were using an 8 shank following a 16 row planter we now have a 15 shank. (we topdress) Before we were covering every middle and it worked out fine with the planter, but now the 15 shank leaves one middle out of every planter swath undone. My goal is to follow the planter and some how find a way to get enough to that 16th row.

What were doing was straddling 3 rows with the tractor and that made it were we took a 9 shank applicator and by moving the shanks around to match the tractor ended up with 8 which suited us fine. Now though I can no longer straddle the 3 rows and are forced to go with 2 so moving shanks won't keep the number on each side equal.

I guess my question is can I can increase the amount going to the outside rows, or should I look to add another shank? The thought of adding another row bothers me because I fear it might cause the applicator to pull to one side.
