Western NY | Whereabouts in Rochester/Buffalo? I live between both. There are plenty of orchards and produce stores to visit as harvest is underway here. In Rochester for dining I would suggest the Dinosaur BBQ or Nic Tahoe's (Tahoe's is not a fancy place, but has been featured on TV as the home of the Garbage Plate). In Buffalo for dining, you could visit the home of the chicken wing, Anchor Bar, or go to the better wing joint, which would be Duff's.
Buffalo: Buffalo Zoo, Naval Ship Museum, Albright Knox Art Museum, or just cruise around and look at the architecture from Frank Lloyd Wright among others.
Rochester: Strong Museum, Genesee Country Museum, and there is always fall festivals happening in the area as well. Or you could take a trip about an hour south to Letchworth State Park and see the Grand Canyon of the East.
