Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow | With crude oil in the neighborhood of $100/bl the cost of gasoline feedstock is at least $2.38/gal. With $4 corn the cost of ethanol feedstock is $4 minus at least $1.21 for the residual value of DDGS or $2.80 for a net feedstock cost of $1.04/gal.
On a straight up BTU/gal basis the ethanol is worth $1.66/gal.
I wonder when the cost advantage of ethanol will finally convince fuel distributors and retailers to promote E15 and E85.
One would think the greed would eventually overcome their knee-jerk resistance.
