It seems with the USDA the 91% harvested as grain excludes the 6 million harvested as silage and the 2 million or so that seems to disappear between planting and harvest (maybe what FSA calls "failed") but since it is a survey supposedly puts a number on all the corn acres.

On the other hand the FSA only counts those acres farmers report, basicly any acres insured and/or in other programs. The difference between the two are acres not in participating programs and USDA sampling error.

Why is it the longer I look at these numbers the more confused I get.
