Amherst WI
I'm a DSM for Jungs so I will make that known right off the bat.

I have a dairy beef customer not far from me that went from 6 bags the first year to just about all of his acres now, between the father and son they finish over 1000+ each a year. There are two very important things with HDS to get it to give you high yields and high quality.

Make sure you plant it thin. Just about everyone that I have had try HDS and not keep using it planted it too thick. I will even say what the seed guide says is too thick. If your looking for high starch feed you do not want to go over 28,000, I'd prefer even 26-27K unless your on some really choice dirt that is loaded with groceries. The ear size will make up for the tonnage "lost" from fewer plants.

The other thing is to not use growth regulators like dicamba on it, it has a poor tolerance for growth regulators.

I have also found in my own experience is that it usually looks a lot wetter in the field than it really is, so don't just do a visual on the moisture test it and go from there.
