Subject: Insulation under roof of 7000 series Allis: need replacement

NW KS/ SC ID
hey all,

working on another allis, this time a 1975 7040 Power Director. I took the cab roof off, got it all cleaned up, and ready to go back together. I do not have any insulating blanket up there like the operators manual shows, and AGCO shows it is NLA. this is the blanket that goes over the HVAC components.

does anyone remember what it was made out of, and what would be a close substitute?

how important was the HVAC blanket? did it keep the system sealed so that dust had to go through the air filter, or was it just for insulation so the HVAC could keep up on a hot day?

also, the insulation that was up there, was on the sheet metal roof over the operators head, behind all the HVAC and console. it had disentigrated into a few chunks of gritty dust, so I cant tell what it was made of either. was this just sound deadening foam like what was on the interior? if so, I will just get a big bulk chunk of new stuff from our salvage yard buddy we deal with.

any input appreciated, thanks!
