Elkmont, AL | X2, there worth more because those of us coming from 14xx, 16xx are not intimidated on working them. Theres a reason that cih is still building the old style axial flow. And there relatively easy to work on, I can replace a lot of parts through Shoup and Sloan for not a ton of money if I'm willing to do the wrenching myself. A mechanic with average skills can handle 90% of repairs without dealer intervention and laptop not required for diagnosis. Just compare the amount of aftermarket parts for a 2388 vs. the same year model jd 9650, 9750 sts. Jalopy's right there's tons of cheap 2388's, but the price reflects the amount of work they need and hours. There's a lot more differences between a 98 and 06 2388 than a 06 2388 and 2588. Honestly there was enough changes around the 2002 to 2003 timeframe to justify a model number change. And comparing a 98 2388 small grain machine with zero options to a 03-06 dualled up with 4wd, rt, ft, ym, with similar hours is an apples to oranges comparison in my opinion. Just my $.02 | |
