Iowa | I know a guy in Iowa with a very nice double- curtain finisher that decided to quit buying pigs and was shopping for someone to lay in pigs earlier this year. He had many years of excellent close-outs as proof of his abilities; way better-than-average. Cargill offered him $32/space a year plus a $1 incentive for hitting weight parameters, and they required 2 scheduled injections per group. He got $38 from a 3000 sow independent producer with no planned injections (done in the nursery before arrival).
NOT wean-to-finish but feeder-to-finish. | |
