Sumner GA, Located in southwest GA,
Personally I disagree with that logic. At some point you have to feed the soil, leaving residue is the easiest way to do. The ideal system for me is to harvest the grain, flash graze the stalks and come back in and plant my winter pasture/cover crops. Given I seem to have a different idea than most about soil health, most folks seem to want to get away from livestock, in my opinion cows are the best way you can build your soil health, if you want to really manage for it. The unfortunate thing is it really limits down how much land you can handle and do a good job at, not sure if it ends up being a good or bad thing really.
