Subject: RE: Ears dropping on 114 day corn-my trip

Jefferson, SD
I drove from Sioux Falls to Garden City KS yesterday. Starting to show stress along I-29 especially up by SF(it was 80 degrees so not mid afternoon type stress). Good spot half way from SF to SC. SC south to Omaha you can see the light spots at 75mph. Omaha to Grand Island is in the next stage and the corners are turning brown. What is really looking rough is Kearney south to I70 in KS. Wow it's turned on a dime from 30 days ago when I came though. Honestly it looks just like 2012 at this point, dryland is gone and some pivots have stress in the light spots. From I70 south to Garden City it looks good. You can see the rain line from a couple weeks ago. The GC area hasn't had much good for a number of years so good to see the Scott City area looking good.

I travel a lot in the western corn belt and its remarkable how fast things have fallen apart in the last 10 days.
