| The oil companies are pulling all the stops now that fuel consumption is back to early 1990's levels. The 70 mph speed limit increases just signed in in Ill. and being promoted for Wis. are an attempt to up fuel consumption. People now drive 74 because they know the cops don't get enough revenue from tickets under 10 over to make it worth the stop. Now they will be going 79. Studies show that in highly populated states where speed limits were raised to 70, fatalities went up by 35%. | |
