Northwest Iowa
Have used it here for the last 4 years. Raven's plant is in Sioux Falls SD. No racoon or crow problem with the Feedfresh tarp because of all the strings incorporated into it, it will not tear. You will still need to get the cover on asap when you finish chopping and use lots of tires to weigh it down. I am not convinced of all the trials they have done yet of their oxygen barrier claims, so this year we will cover half the pile with Feedfresh and the other half with Silo Stop and a cheap 6 mil white and black plastic and see if we see a differance at feedout. I do not understand the non-tarping camp. I put $300,000 + of corn in this pile and then not try to save as much as I can? Like building a new house, and not putting shingles on the roof. If you get 20% spoilage, that pays for a lot of plastic and labor. Have been told that 6" of slime on top is actually 12" or more of rotten silage.
