East Central Ia | Never had that problem with ours. We have never run anything ahead of the chisel since we owned it. I have run it over 230bpa 20" corn residue and never plugged once.
I run my coulters deep enough so the whole wave is in the ground in most cases. This takes horsepower for sure though. I also have noticed in tougher soils it wants to tip the machine back so I have to tip it a little forward so it wants to run level while in the ground.
What shanks are on your machine. Mine has all chisel shanks with 2" straight points.
