Buffalo IL | Have a large farming operation in area or basically state now that farms well over 40000 acres ( I have no idea how many acres and it really doesn't matter) and they do a good job. They were trying to run 12 row corn heads and have switched back to 8 row heads and more combines. The reason (IMO) is they don't have to take heads off to road the machines, easier to trade, really no extra help with having people and trucks to haul heads and trying to get heads on in the roads, etc. Maybe a smaller machine might be more practical and last year drought corn didn't overload the new chopper. Just some thoughts, but you might cut significant hours from silage chopper unless it is sitting. | |
