| 4 billion in futures losses by a rogue trader oversea caused the spike down in futures on MLK day.. everything sold off including grains... ben cut for the wrong reason and now all the inflation hedges are re-inflating. this is your deadcat bounce. notice the bonds have sold off VERY heavy the last few days after being duped. rates are going back up.
i would be a buyer of all slightly out of money puts on beans and corn here.
the mkt downturn is real and everyone now sees what can happen overnight. just because they lower rates doesnt make me want to go out and buy that 500k house thats really worth 300k even with rates near all time lows. nobody wants to be the next sucker when rates go back up.... so the bottom line is house prices WILL fall, and fall much more than people realize. thats when the real slowdown occurs.
