Subject: Question for the calf castrating experts...

Eastern ND
Hi guys. I've got a 2 month old calf that I banded 12 days ago as I was moving him and his ma to a different pasture. Now today I noticed that his sack appears possibly infected? as it resembles the size of a bratwurst. he appears to move along fine with the rest of the group, at least for now. it bothers him, as he turns and licks back there often. I got within about 15 feet, and it looks like the band is still there, and his flesh above the band appears normal. This pasture is really hard to get cattle out of- I usually chase them home in the fall when crops are off. So....with hindsight 20/20 I probably never should have banded and sent him straight to pasture. Will it just hopefully fall off soon? Or should I be rounding him up? Any thoughts and experiences with this problem would be appreciated. TIA
