As you talk more I think the age of the cows is hurting you as much as anything too. How old are they? I have some older cows that I have kept because they are really good cows but you can tell their age in the winter because they dont winter as well. These are not sucking calves either. As they get older they are just not as efficient and it takes better feed. Plus you are talking about cold weather and prolly wind too. I had rather have real cold than 30 and sleet and rain. That will really knock them if you get them wet and then add wind to it.
