East Central SD
Moderate temps and wet conditions in June and July were replaced by less rainfall but colder tempeatures mostly in high 60's and low 70's in August of 1993. Corn never developed past dough stage to early dent and resulted in many acres being destroyed under the 0/92 program.
The cool and mostly dry stage we are in now(western MN/eastern SD) keeps the crop from showing stress from dryness but also is retarding development. We are still concerned with this crop progress, and remember the killer freeze that happened 5 weeks from now, twenty years ago.
Considering the crazy year we are experiencing, history could repeat itself this year.
