Faunsdale, AL | Problem is a round baler can bale up stuff that is dangerous without even grunting. Many times a square baler will break the wet ones that come along occasionally. It only takes a single bale that is too wet in a barn full of hay!
So it comes down to how consistent is the hay across the field and how wet the hay really is.
Been making hay here at this farm since 1939. Couple years ago we had 2 barn fires and a stack fire...........All first cutting ryegrass/mix hay in round bales. If I ever have hay that starts really smelling strong like HAY a few weeks after stacking it in the barn, I will be unstacking it and spreading it out! Didn't smell bad, just strong smell of hay. | |
