Southwest OK
Bud boxes work really well and are cheap to build. Cattle need to have "manners" for them to work efficiently though. So if your cows are rank or your planning on running stockers a tub might be a better option. If you have plenty of cow savvy you can put anything through a bud box you can through a tub, and usually faster. If your short on that you can be in for a long day. Another issue is tubs can be laid out in a horseshoe. Saves a lot of walking if your a one man show. A bud box works better with a straight alley so they usually lay in an L. Not bad, but it can get to be a long walk to the back of it by the end of the day.
If I was in your shoes I would probably buy a chute and alley, then build a box with panels. Work your cows a time or two in that set up and see how it works. You can always buy a tub later or build a better box depending on how it works for you.
As for what chute to buy, they will all work, but a self catching head gate would be a must. Make life much better. Especially when your by yourself.
