“These are the times that try men's souls.”
I've switched to using the black plastic type wrap for straw. I think they call it Durra Wrap, the biggest roll is 5,000' I thinking. I've been getting it from the Dennis Jones Twine Co. It is kind of a fish net, it will cut your hands if you try pulling it from a frozen bale without gloves. I use his white net wrap, think it is made by Novatex. That stuff will disintegrate after 2-3 years in sun sometimes. Also one thing I like about the Durra wrap is it being black pulls more heat to help melt ice and snow off the bales.

If it is good straw out of a walker machine I only put 2.5 wraps, if out of a rotor machine I will put 3-3.5 wraps. Most all hay I wrap 2-2.5, most of my hay gets fed up every year. I don't like to keep net bales more than 2 year on hay , 3 on straw. Quit twine years ago, best thing I ever did. Faster, less mess to clean up.
