N.W. Illinois | When ever we've had emergence issues it is usually rounds. This year our Pioneer came as rounds(we ordered Flats) and it has a poorer stand then the DeKalb next to it.
Nothing new with 52-04. It was a bust for us last year both with emergence and yield. I'd be surprised if it is even around next year.
I've been told by number of seed agronomist over the years that flats will have a better cold test then rounds. Harvesting and handling leads to more damage to the ends of the ear although this is not as bad as it use to be since most companies harvest in the husk. | |
