Subject: new to me idea on late planted crop for forage

thorp wi.

had 2 farmers from janesville wi. here today for a hammermill and they where suprised at how wet and on behind we are in this aera so got to talkin about late planted crops , anyway they mentioned how one year they mixed corn and sunflowers and planted at 60,000 pop. after wheat . say it grows fast and then harvested just below the corn ears . they fed it to heifers but apparently was alittle to high in energy because the heifers got to fat on it . ges the sunflowers are high in oil .  anybody have any experience with this ? i still have some feilds that are just to wet to plant yet .  anybody need some extra rain ?  would gladly share !
