west central iowa | Luke, we don't have a vertical mixer,so we go at it a little different. First we put the syrup in because of our high speed pump will splash it on the bars if it's turning. 2nd thing is the corn. The reason for this is to soak the corn in syrup instead of hay and or cornstalks. We have found syrup that hay/cornstalks turn into what looks like mud balls and the mud balls roll down the side of the feed when you unload the feed into the bunk. 3rd thing is hay/cornstalks followed by wet ddg or gluten and last soy hulls or dry ddg or earlage. | |
