Genoa City, WI | Yeah, not the greatest ground in this area. This particular farm, about half of it had a CSR of 85 and above...a quarter around 60, and another quarter below 40. Very variable ground, lots of wet spots that need tile. Southern Iowa can be pretty variable....go five miles and the dirt can change from 200 bushel potential to 'can't even graze a cow'. Interestingly, the other part of the family trust was also sold on Saturday. It was about forty miles away, was supposedly better (flatter) dirt, and went for $4200.
To the north of us about thirty miles, a piece went for over $7000 a month ago. I didn't see it, so can't comment on the quality of the land. | |
