I had a van trailer for farm products, went to a forklift store and bought a good used pallet jack for $125.  Found it helpful for many things I never thought about besides moving stuff around in the van trailer.  Story I was told was that some trucking companies traded pallet jacks frequently if they found one easier for the help to use. 

Might try some places in your area, could be surprised at what you find.  I understand, I didn't want to buy a new one either.
