Subject: Grazing forage soybeans

SE Kansas

Markwright gave some good advice on a previous thread of mine re: soybeans as forage.  I am curious as to those who have done this, what variety or seed did you use?  Outside of a few specialty companies selling as deer plot food, I can't find a whole lot of info.

I like the idea of a summer grazing crop vs the fall/spring of something like rye.  Timing can be critical as the soybean scenario can take pressure off my stockpiled fescue and native grasses.

Here's relevant article (recent too) that is intriguing on the benefits compared to alfalfa and multiple grazings.  Only issue I will have is it will follow wheat and the wheat probably won't come out of field until after 4th of July.
