Subject: Krause 5500 vac drill setting - soybeans

I am going to try a 5500 Krause drill with the vac seed meters and 36 hole disks. The former owner had it set at 205,000 . I would like to be at about 160,000. Was the former owner really planting beans that thick or do these things need to be set at a higher than desired rate to achieve actual population? The monitor only detects flow, not population count. I know I will have to count beans to be sure, does anyone have any experience with these? What ground speeds can be achieved with maintaining seed depth?
Thanks
