Neighbor streched a Stieger for a manure tank. Not sure of the set back. It would constantly rip out the driveshaft. I don't think he ever got it working.
Because he probably only did one end - think about it, I believe the big tractors have to have the axles pretty darn close to equal distances from the articulation point, so when turning they both follow the same arc/radius. If not, they follow separate ones, wheels rotate at slightly different rates/speeds, and you rip out the weakest link. Just like how some older pickups were bad for that little hop when 4x4 was engaged and you turned short. Only with the pickup, its light enough the tire can hop/skid. The steiger, well, it weighs to much, easier to spin the drive shaft.
