Subject: Digital to Analog TV Converters

February 2009 is the target date when analog TV transmissions end, as all broadcasters are required to transmit digital only. Many of us live in areas where we rely on old fashioned antenna reception. And many of our televisions are older analog models. We will need to purchase a converter box to convert digital signals back to analog signals for our older televisions. The converters should be readily available for $60-$70 next month. To ease the pain, the government is offering assistance via $40 coupons. Limit 2 coupons per household. Kicker is they have funded approx 1 coupon for every 2 analog tv's being used. Will be on a first come first served basis to receive the coupons. To learn more you may wish to go to the government web site discussing the program. This site also allows you to request the coupons. From what I understand the coupons are good for a maximum of 90 days. Do not request and ultimately waste them, please. If you receive signals via a dish you do not need the converters. The program is an honest attempt to minimize costs of the transition for common folk like us who depend on regular airwave signals.
