SWIL
x2

Every time we talk about working on the old or new home here, we get to hear that all contractors are thieves and liars. That is an opinion held by a few regular posters.

My weekday job is as an electrical contractor doing mostly residential work. We do work for some good general contractors. There are good ones out there. To say that we are all thieves and liars is just not true. A good contractor is worth a lot, especially on an investment as big as a home. There are so many little things that can make a big difference in how long a home lasts and how it performs and how it looks. A good contractor knows these things and gets it done right.

There are bad ones too. I've seen many that I wouldn't let step foot on my place. Do some research. Word of mouth is best. See some of the work and talk to the customers. Then you will find a good contractor.

I've seen and had to correct so much "I can do it myself" work. Some can, some can't.

Please don't believe that all contractors are out to steal your money and do a poor job.
