Years ago I had a shop teacher that made us write several essays in class. He knew even back then that the demand for technical writers would be huge. All too often it is very hard to find a person that has mechanical knowledge and also writing prowess. A perfect example would be the plethora of radio announcers around here that read at less than a fifth grade level.
