| When I mail my 1040 check to the IRS I always send it certified mail and make them sign and send a receipt so I have proof that they received it. One time a long time ago I sent in my check well ahead of deadline and they never deposited my check for 3 months but still charged me a late penalty. If you have your certified mail receipt you have your proof that they received it on time. | |
