I bought a Ford truck in OR just to get a 250 HP 3208 Cat turbo and I live in MI. It has 50,000 miles on it. I had a whole list of suppliers that sell rebuilt.

A couple of years ago the price was $7,500 to $9,000 for a fully rebuilt engine, but if you ruined your old block you might have to pay a $3,000.00 core charge for that..

It seems they want about $5,000 for a good used engine with high miles on it. I paid $8,200 for a new 3208 Cat in 1986 that started knocking at 12,000 hours now I have a Jasper rebuilt.. The bored it and installed dry sleeves.. These dry sleeves are wearing much better than stock cast iron.

How do I know that? I had to pull the heads when I blew a head gasket.. I think the Jasper rebuilt was $7.200 back in 2006. They wanted $3,000 for a core I wanted to keep my old engine, so I bought a good running motor for $1,500.00 out of a Terri gator they were junking out with 4,000 hours on it.

It must be nice to have so much money you can buy a new spreader every 4,000 hours.. I guess I should have kept that motor too?
