Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | Thanks for all the information guys. I knew about the big LST type ships, but the little "Higgins boat" type craft were always a mystery to me. All film footage I have seen, shows them already in the water alongside and troops climbing down those rope nets to get in. The "well decks" to float them out and the big "davits" to store / lower them over the side is the answer for the Little "Higgins boat" types.
